Yokomo YD-2 vs MST RMX vs Reve D RDX: which drift chassis should you buy?
Buy the Reve D RDX if you want the best all-round first RWD chassis with a clear upgrade path, the MST RMX if you want the cheapest ready-to-run route in, and the Yokomo YD-2 if you want the deepest range of option parts. All three are proper hobby-grade RWD drift chassis with UK spares support.

Yokomo YD-2
Yokomo is one of the pioneers of RC drift, and the YD-2 is the chassis that made its name. Its biggest strength is support: there are option parts for almost every corner of the car, so it can grow with you for years. It suits a drifter who enjoys tuning and wants a platform they won't outgrow.
MST RMX
The RMX's ready-to-run version is a common way into the hobby because it's driftable out of the box at a lower starting price. The trade-off is the upgrade path: the RMX is mostly upgraded with MST's own parts, which adds up. Good if budget decides, or if you want to drive before you build.
Reve D RDX
The RDX sits between entry-level and high-end kits, which is why it's the base of our two most popular setups. It's forgiving to drive, builds into a very competitive car with a Team AD carbon conversion, and has wide spares support in the UK. It's our default recommendation for a first full-size RWD drift car.
Our pick by situation
- First RWD car, want to build it: Reve D RDX — see the First Slide setup.
- Want to drive this weekend on a budget: MST RMX ready-to-run.
- Already hooked, want a long-term tuning platform: Yokomo YD-2.
FAQ
Is Yokomo better than MST? Yokomo has the deeper option-parts range and a long drift heritage; MST is the more budget-friendly way in, especially ready-to-run. "Better" depends on whether you value upgrade depth or starting cost.
Which drift chassis has the best spares availability in the UK? All three are well supported. RC Shopper stocks spares for the Yokomo YD-2, MST RMX and Reve D RDX, dispatched the same day when ordered before 2pm.
Is the Reve D RDX good for beginners? Yes. It's forgiving to drive and builds easily, and it can be upgraded into a competitive club car with a carbon conversion.
Can I upgrade an MST RMX ready-to-run later? Yes, but upgrading with MST parts can cost more than starting with a kit. Upgrading the RTR's electronics brings it to roughly the level of the kit version.
